Government Strategy

The core objective of the current Government Road Safety Strategy 2004 - 2006 is to reduce road deaths to no more than 300 by 2006. This represents a 25% reduction in road fatalities by the end of 2006 over the average annual number of fatalities (400) in the 1998 - 2003 period

Achieving targets set out in the Government Strategy for Road Safety involves a combination of Enforcement, Engineering and Education activities.
